Republic Day reminds me of my Country!!!

Our freedom fighters dreamt of a great nation. They sacrificed their lives to free our country and to build a nation with a distinct identity of its own. Samuel Johnson has rightly said," the patriot's blood is the seed of freedom's tree." But today, who cares for one's country? We have becime so self centerd that we do not even get the time to share the joys and sorrows of each other... It is only the Independence Day or Republic Day when wwe show our patriotism by hoisting our national flag and singing the national anthem. Patriotism has become a mere national self assertion, 'a sentimentality of flat-cheering with no constructive duties'. Do we really understand the meaning of patriotism? The spirit of patriotism inspires us to do something for the progress of our country and to show love by doing something that brings fame fot our country and contributes in its progress. Lord Byron says- "He who loves not his country , can love nothing".

  1. Totally agree with you yashna. Now the whole point of view regarding everything especially regarding our country's independence and patriotism is very casual as if its of no worth.

  2. I really agree with u yashna. No respect and honour for our country is left in the people residing here.Always saying that India needs a revolution is not at all correct, its the citizens of our country who really need to undergo a revolution and change their thinking.Today, patriotism only means the independence day and the republic day for the people........People really need to change their perception........

  3. Congratulations on starting blog. It's all correct that patriotism lies in the soul of citizen. But in our country, most of the persons don't know about their duties and what our nation is demanding. Most of the engineering, medical and management students don't serve their country. They prefer money to nation. Then what can we expect from them.
